The Issues
Dillon Fillion is running to fight for the hardworking people of Iowa House District 81. Here's where he stands on the issues that matter most to our community.
Protecting Home Ownership
- Eliminate property taxes entirely so your home is truly yours — you shouldn't be taxed just for owning what you worked hard to earn.
- If complete elimination isn't immediately achievable, reduce taxes as low as possible.
- Stand up to Des Moines when they pile on rules or mandates that make owning a home harder.
- Less government meddling means greater freedom for Iowa homeowners.
Public Safety
- Neighborhoods deserve to be safe. Provide police with adequate funding and resources.
- Eliminate bureaucratic obstacles for officers. Build strong relationships with county sheriffs, DAs, and state officials.
- Stricter penalties for repeat offenders and mandatory sentencing for habitual criminals.
- Crack down on drug trafficking targeting our youth.
- Resist efforts to defund police. Ensure veterans receive their promised healthcare and job support.
Education
- Parents in HD 81 should call the shots for their kids' education — not Des Moines bureaucrats.
- Reduce state mandates that politicize classrooms and create red tape for teachers.
- Focus on job-ready skills in manufacturing and trades.
- Eliminate wasteful spending so funding reaches schools for books and technology.
- Keep classrooms focused on academics.
Cutting Taxes
- Eliminate Iowa's income tax entirely to keep workers' paychecks intact.
- Make Iowa competitive with no-income-tax states like Texas, Florida, and Tennessee.
- If full elimination isn't immediate, implement significant reductions.
- Reduce wasteful spending in Des Moines state government.
- Push for relief that makes Iowa competitive and attracts jobs and growth.
